K&L Gates said Monday that Roger Crane has joined the firm as a partner in New York from Nixon Peabody, where he was a leader of the business litigation team. Crane is arguably best known for representing Adelphia Communications executive Michael Rigas during his federal retrial on conspiracy and wire fraud charges. Crane said he is making the switch to K&L Gates so he can focus on securities litigation.

Lathrop Opens Chicago Office With Former Sonnenschein Partner
Lathrop & Gage, founded in Kansas City, Mo., has moved into Chicago, opening an office there with former Sonnenschein partner Blaine Kimrey, who began his career at Lathrop. Adding the Chicago office is part of Lathrop’s plan to expand into major U.S. business centers at a time when companies are seeking lower-cost alternatives, the firm’s chief executive said in a release. Lathrop, which has about 300 lawyers, will now have offices in 11 U.S. locations.
